Yellowknife Speed Skating Club:
The Yellowknife Club typically has over 120 skaters, and is one of the largest clubs in Canada! Programs include Learn to Skate for our youngest skaters plus programs geared to developing skaters in the sport of speed skating. Typical activities for the Yk Club include:
- Mid-late August - hosting the NWTASSA Summer Speed Skating Camp
- Early September - Club registration and start-up of programs
- November - Arctic Winter Games (AWG) Yellowknife Regional Trials
- Early December - Club Ability Meet, a fun-oriented, day-long event that features races based on skater ability not age.
- Late December - Club Christmas Camp for competitive skaters to keep their edge over the holidays.
- January - hosting the AWG Territorial Speed Skating Trials.
- February-March - hosting NWT Speed Skating Championship which brings together skaters from across the NWT.
- Mid-late March - end of regular programs.
- April - End-of-season club social.
- May - Club AGM including election of executive positions.
