On the Road to 2010...
The NWTASSA will be sending a full team of 16 skaters, coach and chaperone to the 2010 Games to be held March 6-13, 2010 in Grande Prairie, AB.

Please read carefully to fully understand the next steps.
AWG Process
The athlete selection process for the AWG 2010 has three stages for all sports to follow:
· Regional registration – Now complete
· Territorial trials – coming up in January
· Arctic Winter Games
Territorial Team Selection
Territorial Trials for speed skating will be held in Yellowknife from January 28 – January 31, 2010.
§ All skaters, coaches and chaperones advancing from the regional trials to the Territorial Trials must be registered with Sport North by January 8, 2010.
§ Registration fee of $100 must be paid to Sport North by January 8, 2010.
§ All skaters must compete at the trials (including Junior Female who advance to the AWG)
§ Accommodations in Yellowknife for the Territorial Trials are the responsibility of each regional team. Please make your reservations early.
§ NWTASSA will plan the Territorial Trials competition. Yellowknife Speed Skating Club volunteers and officials will run the meet.
§ Practice times, competition dates and times plus heats etc will be sent at a later date.
Arctic Winter Games
All Team NWT speed skaters and coaches must be registered online and payment made to Sport North by February 8, 2010.
· The registration fee is $250.00 per participant.
· The NWTASSA will cover the final AWG fee for coach and chaperone.
· The registration fee after February 8th will be $350.00 per participant
· Team members are not allowed to leave the games early.
· Team members who will not be travelling home from the games with the team will be required to advise Sport North in advance and have a be parent-signed release form.
· Sport North is trying to arrange a parent charter.

Fall Post:
Regional Trials will be held in each of the regions as follows:
- Fort Simpson: No trials needed. Regional Training Camp - November 30 - December 3, 2009
- Hay River/Fort Smith - To be determined.
- Norman Wells: No trials needed.
- Inuvik: Regional - Held December 12 and 14, 2009 Results
- Yellowknife: Regional Trials held on November 15, 2009 Results
